KO-D Openweight Championship

KO-D Openweight Championship – KO-D無差別級王座

The 1st generation title belt used from 2000 to 2005.

The 2nd generation title belt used from 2005 to 2022.

In the year 2000 the DDT commissioner Exciting Yoshida created the company’s first championship to celebrate their Korakuen Hall debut from the previous December. Unfortunately there wasn’t much money in the company at the time so the belt was made as cheaply as possible. The new championship was called the DDT Openweight Title at first but the name was quickly changed to the KO-D Openweight Title. The initials KO-D stand for King Of DDT. Originally all title matches had no time limit established but DDT eventually changed the rule over to a more traditional 60 minute limit. From 2009 onward DDT established an extra prize that eventually became known as the Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere rule. Once a year wrestlers can win a different colored Gauntlets that grants the holder a KO-D Title shot, usually whenever they want as long as the champion is in the same venue as them. The cashed in title matches that took place without advanced notice are labelled as such on this page. The complete history of Right To Challenge title shots being cashed in can be found here.
