Other Participants: Everyone else who was still in the building.

New Year’s Eve in Korakuen Hall was a very busy day with many different promotions getting together to celebrate the final hours of 2012. DDT, Big Japan and K-DOJO got together to celebrate the alleged 100th Anniversary of pro wrestling with Shiori Asahi and his fellow generation of wrestlers leading the way and booking the show. With two rings set up beside each other in the arena, there was plenty of space for some crazy shenanigans.

An Olympic Games style competition between the three companies took place throughout the evening with a large percentage of the box office on the line for the winning side. Not only were there points on the line in matches but other non-wrestling contests such as Judo, karaoke and a quiz were part of the competition. Unfortunately after the main event Shiori Asahi lost track of the results and a winner could not be decided. So a special bonus match took place, a sudden death Falls Count Anywhere free for all between all the wrestlers who were still in the building. Abdullah Kobayashi got the pinfall on Asahi and got to close out the show with a speech.

Hiroshi Fukuda faced a big challenge in the form of Osamu Nishimura. He used many tricks from American wrestling such as the trick handshake, the 10 Punch in the corner and using the ropes to choke his respectful opponent. However, the difference in skill and experience was far too much and Nishimura targeted Fukuda’s knee. He broke him down from there and submitted the young Fukuda with the Spinning Toe Hold. After that match, Nishimura told Fukuda he knew about his love of American wrestling, but the 70’s style of American wrestling that Osamu knows is more deep and interesting than the 80’s style that Fukuda obsesses over. Fukuda didn’t listen and was convinced Nishimura used magic to beat him. Fukuda thinks Nishimura is the best magician he has ever wrestled and that he himself will have to increase his MP (magic points from RPGs) to go along with his physical stength and wrestling technique.

Despite being left in a bloody state, Ryuichi Sekine said that wrestling in the Fluorescent Lighttubes Death Match was a lot of fun.

Sanshiro Takagi & Abdullah Kobayashi went into the Tag Team Gauntlet determined to win. They named their team GET MILD for the match and appeared to have won after they eliminated the dominant duo of Tommy End & Michael Dante. But a surprise came when the actual GET WILD team from All Japan made their entrance as a last minute final entry. Takao Omori & Manabu Soya quickly eliminated Takagi & Kobayashi to easily win the Gauntlet.

Korakuen Hall will contain two wrestling rings for the show and a WHCTLC (which stands for Double Ring Hardcore Tables, Ladders & Chairs) Match has been booked to utilise both of them. Meanwhile parts of the card have an emphasis on the young generation. The semi-main event has Hiro Tsumaki from Union, Hideyoshi Kamitani from Big Japan and Tank Nagai from K-DOJO taking on the heavyweight aces of their companies Shuji Ishikawa, Daisuke Sekimoto & Yuji Hino. Union’s Hiroshi Fukuda won a Samurai TV! poll to earn a match against Osamu Nishimura. We also have CZW and wXw appearances with Drake Younger, MASADA, Danny Havoc, Tommy End and Michael Dante all competing.

The other theme of the show is an Olympic Games style competition taking place between DDT, Big Japan and K-DOJO. Pre-show Olympic wrestling matches will also take place with the competitors yet to be decided.

“NEW YEAR’S EVE WRESTLING 2012”, 31/12/2012
Tokyo Korakuen Hall

1. Cinderella Championship: Emi Sakura Vs X
2. Special Single Match: Osamu Nishimura Vs Atsushi Ohashi or Hiroshi Fukuda

5. Big Japan Vs KAIENTAI-DOJO: Shinya Ishikawa & Shinobu Vs Taishi Takizawa & Yuki Sato
6. Big Japan Vs DDT: Kazuki Hashimoto Vs Takao Soma

A partial card for the 2012 New Year’s Eve supershow has been revealed. Shiori Asahi, Atsushi Ohashi, Hiroshi Fukuda and Kaji Tomato got together today to announce that this year’s event will be based around a three way tournament between Big Japan, DDT and KAIENTAI-DOJO. There will be a point system in place but how many points will be on the line for each match is so far unknown. Inspired by the Olympics held earlier in the summer, there will also be non-wrestling contests taking place throughout the show.

Osamu Nishimura’s opponent will be decided by a Samurai TV! survey. The survey will determine whether or not Atsushi Ohashi or Hiroshi Fukuda will be a suitable opponent for Nishimura. Ohashi said he should get the match because he is the “Bridge Ace” of Big Japan. Fukuda said he should get the match because the Union Non-Certified US Heavyweight Champion is the perfect opponent for a man who is a “legitimate successor” of the AWA and NWA style of wrestling.

So far the only woman signed up for the Cinderella Championship match is Emi Sakura. The title has been hyped up to be more important than any of the championships from the three promotions. However, they haven’t been able to find any suitable wrestlers to compete against Sakura. Shiori Asahi said he is taking applications from the public for potential challengers.

7. DDT Extreme Title – Fluorescent Lighttube, Rose & Ecosystem Death Match: Shuji Ishikawa defeated Yuko Miyamoto (c) with the Splash Mountain onto the sea urchins (15:08).
*Yuko Miyamoto fails in V2. Shuji Ishikawa becomes the 19th DDT Extreme Champion!

The partnership between Union and Big Japan continued today in Shin-Kiba 1st RING with another joint show from the two promotions. The show was highlighted with the main event between Shuji Ishikawa and Yuko Miyamoto in a Fluorescent Lighttube, Rose & Ecosystem Death Match for the DDT Extreme Title. Details of the death match were given at the beginning of the show where Naomi Susan said that it was up to Ken Ohka to decide what the Ecosystem part of the match meant. Ohka produced a sea urchin and replied “This is it.” Miyamoto was disappointed and said that was not a good choice. Susan defended Ohka’s choice and said that they have the finest items available to create the best match.

The match itself had the set up of lighttubes attached to the ropes, a rose covered board resting against one neutral corner and a box of sea urchins placed over at the other corner. Ishikawa became the new DDT Extreme Champion in a match that saw the canvas covered in the remains of squashed sea urchins. Afterwards, Ishikawa announced that he was going to reveal his partner for the Special Tag Team match against HARASHIMA at Budokan Hall. Ishikawa asked Ryuji Ito to team with him at the event. Ito agreed.

Yoshihito Sasaki Vs Shigehiro Irie was as hard-hitting as everyone expected. After a stiff headbutt exchance, Sasaki dropped Irie with the Lariat to win.

Isami Kodaka & Hiro Tsumaki were announced to take part in the Tag Team Gauntlet match at the DDT 15th Anniversary show. Meanwhile Kengo Ohka and Daisuke Sekimoto had some words for each other after they beat Kodaka & Tsumaki. Sekimoto said he will not team with Kengo again. Kengo said “Next time I’ll see you in KAIENTAI-DOJO.”

Ken Ohka has slowly but surely been adapting to death match wrestling. His latest flirtation with the more violent side of puroresu was a Hardcore match against Ryuji Ito. Ohka lost after a Superplex followed by a chair assisted Dragon Splash. After the match, Ohka complained about Ito using the chair. He also noticed that they both share the same birthday, 8th April.

A rivalry formed by conflicting sponsorships has eventually turned into an alliance. Big Rude & Jaki Numazawa put their differences aside to defeat the powerful combination of Yuji Okabayashi & Hoshitango. The ending came when Okabayashi accidentaly struck his partner with a Lariat, allowing Big Rude to give Hoshitango a Back Drop for the win. Afterwards, Numazawa told Okabayashi & Hoshitango if they grow out their hair long they will then start to win matches.

Even with the help of special guest referee Sanshiro Takagi, the young team of Hiroshi Fukuda & Masashi Otani fell to the Great Kojika and Cherry. Takagi was clearly playing favourites and aided Fukuda & Otani any way he could. He ignored rope breaks, performed fast counts, refused to acknowledge tags and called Cherry a hag. However, when Kojika applied a Dragon Sleeper to Fukuda it was all over. Takagi lifted Fukuda’s arm three times to check if he was concious and the arm fell down each time. Takagi had no choice but to end the match and give the victory to Cherry and the Great Kojika.

Sanshiro Takagi will act as the referee for one of the matches on the card.

A lot of bizarre names are being used as match titles. I’m sure that I mistranslated a bunch of them but the Engrish is quite fitting I think.

The gimmick match for the main event hasn’t been confirmed yet. However, there are rumours it will be a death match involving vipers, scorpions, lighttubes and roses.

The 5 Vs 5 Soccer match is taking place because of the Captain Tsubasa involvement Sanshiro Takagi set up earlier this month. DDT held a game of football back in April 2009 between the Italian Four Horsemen and Louis Takanashi XIV’s French side. The game was played in the ring with a beach ball and ended in a 5-5 draw after extra time.

Konosuke Takeshita is the newest addition to the DDT roster. He will be making his debut against the world renowned El Generico.

Tatsumi Fujinami and Yuzuki Aikawa are also expected to compete at the show.

Three Total Worlds, New Year’s Eve, Whose Anniversary Is It Anyway?

June 28, 2012

A press conference was held in Dropkick Bar today to announce a list of different shows taking place in Hakata Star Lanes on 16th December. Sanshiro Takagi was in attendence representing DDT along with Big Japan owner Eiji Tosaka and TAKA Michinoku of K-DOJO. Together they announced that on that day, Big Japan will host a show in the morning, DDT will hold a show in the afternoon and K-DOJO will put on a show in the evening. The series of shows will be held under the title of “Three Total Worlds”.

TAKA then invited K-DOJO wrestler Shiori Asahi into the room. TAKA said that this year will be Asahi’s 10th year in the wrestling business and that he should choose where the ring should be set up inside Hakata Star Lanes. Asahi suggested that they should set up two wrestling rings side by side. He believed that all three promotions are creative enough to come up with good ideas for matches involving two rings. TAKA then pointed out that this year will also be K-DOJO’s 10th Anniversary, which will make this show be even more special.

The talk soon turned to the annual New Year’s Eve show in Korakuen Hall. However, Takagi didn’t seem so eager to participate in this year’s event. He said that they have been doing the show for seven years straight and he has not been able to celebrate the holiday with his family ever since. Tosaka on the other hand said he is looking forward to doing it again. He also said it will be in time for either the 17th or 18th Anniversary of Big Japan. He couldn’t remember which one it was. It was also pointed out that this year is the 40th Anniversary of both New Japan and All Japan. Takagi then remembered that Korakuen Hall celebrated its 50th Anniversary this year too. And just when you think that was all there was to celebrate, Tosaka calculated that if you combine all of the participating promotions’ anniversaries, it adds up to 100 years. So it was decided that the New Year’s Eve show will be held to celebrate the combined 100 year Anniversary of Korakuen Hall and all of the participating promotions. If the double ring idea works in Hakata, they might repeat the concept in Korakuen.

6. DDT Extreme Title: Yuko Miyamoto (c) Vs Shuji Ishikawa

Always eager to make a show of himself, Ken Ohka confronted Naomi Susan and Eiji Tosaka during the announcement of the new matches to send a message to Ryuji Ito. Ohka took out a pair of scissors and placed them up to the fringe of his hair. He said he was doing this as a display of determination. Ohka told Tosaka he will bet anything in his Hardcore match with Ito. Susan stepped in and proposed that the loser of the match will have to raise a glass of champagne to the winner.

Are you ready to be taken for a ride? Kenny Omega will soon be getting brand new entrance music to replace his popular remix of the “Dr. Wily” theme from Mega Man 2. But fans of his current theme have nothing to worry about as his new song comes straight from Capcom themselves. The song will be produced by ROCK-MEN, a collaborative effort made up of different members from Capcom’s sound team. Last year they released a full album of songs based on tracks several different Mega Man games called “We Are ROCK-MEN!”. The currently untitled song will be used for the first time at the 30/6 DDT show in Shin-Kiba 1st RING.

7. BJW Tag Team Title: Shuji Ishikawa & Shigehiro Irie (c) defeated Abdullah Kobayashi & Ryuji Ito when Ishikawa pinned Ito with the Cross-Arm Splash Mountain (19:03).
*V1 for BIG “G” BANG.

BIG “G” BANG defeated two of the mainstays of Big Japan to achieve V1 for the BJW Tag Team Championship. Even without the death match setting, Abdullah Kobayashi & Ryuji Ito were a dangerous duo to be reckoned with. Yukinori Matsui was taken out of action during the match, allowing the Big Japan team to bring is chairs and use them without any consequences. However, the champions retained when Shuji Ishikawa rolled away from Kobayashi’s Bakachinga Elbow. Ishikawa gave him the Splash Mountain but Kobayashi kicked out at two. Ishikawa then gave him the Cross-Arm Splash Mountain and that was enough to win the match.

After the match, Ishikawa told the fans that he wants to bring the DDT Extreme Title back to Union. Yuko Miyamoto, fresh off of his victory over Cherry earlier in the show, accepted the challenge and set the match for Shin-Kiba 1st RING on 18th July.

Tokyo Joshi Pro held an offer match with NOZOMI making her re-debut for her first bout in around 2 or 3 years. She was pitted against former JWP Junior Champion Kagetsu and had a chance to shake off her ring rust and learn the basics once again. NOZOMI lost to the classic rookie killer move, the Boston Crab. Afterwards she gave a bow to all four sides of the arena.

Before Match #2 began, Mio Shirai and Princess Makoto got into another argument over who is more sexy. They asked the other wrestlers plus Yukinori Matsui to judge who had the better looking chest. Makoto won the vote. In the match itself, Makoto used her charms to distract Ken Ohka and allow Shiryu to roll him over for the pin.
