For the second year in a row GLEAT invited DDT over to their part of the wrestling world for a combined show between the two promotions. The main event was originally planned to be DDT’s Yuki Ueno against GLEAT’s Soma Watanabe but Ueno’s medical scare during the week pulled him from the show. Chris Brookes was moved up to take his place making the new main event a match between the current KO-D Openweight Champion against the previous G-REX Champion. Watanabe missing a Firebird Splash cost him big because from that point Brookes took over. The GLEAT wrestler was able to kick out of the Praying Mantis Bomb but Brookes then started pulling him apart with an Octopus Hold on the mat until Watanabe gave up. Watanabe said he doesn’t get many chances to fight the KO-D Champion so he was determined to win and get a title shot in the process. He asked Brookes to please hold onto the title so when he wins back the G-REX Title they can have their rematch with both belts on the line.
In the slimmest sense possible there was also AAA involvement because SBK & TAKUMA had spent a lot of last year wrestling over there. The TOKYO BAD BOYS teamed up with Kazuma Sumi here because of their shared history within the Dragongate system together. Sumi’s lineage with the company was perhaps a little too close because Takehiro Yamamura confused him for El Lindaman and wanted to beat Sumi for that reason. He got what he wanted because he pinned Sumi with the Super Super Kick while MAO & Yuya Koroku cleared away the TOKYO BAD BOYS.
It is probably not a coincidence that the only GLEAT match with no DDT wrestlers in it also involved Katsuhiko Nakajima.
The show was able to bring HARASHIMA & CIMA together as a team again, adding KAZMA SAKAMOTO to make it a trio. CIMA wanted to fight Yukio Naya in a Sumo match but quickly regretted it. Parker Boudreaux overpowered the trio with his strength before joining up with Naya to slam them around even harder together. SAKAMOTO was tripped near the ropes by Brass Knuckles JUN, allowing Ryuichi “Fire” Kawakami to hit a Lariat and win the match. However Naya & Boudreaux came to the other team’s rescue after the match by attacking Kawakami & JUN. HARASHIMA, CIMA & SAKAMOTO then all hit their finishers on the heels to get their revenge.
The current G-REX Champion Kaito Ishida was originally meant to fight Yuki Ishida in an Ishida Showdown. However Yuki was injured so DDT replaced him with Keigo Nakamura. Kaito Ishida tried to beat up Nakamura so bad outside the ring that he would win by countout but Nakamura got back in at 18. Nakamura tried to make a comeback but Ishida cut him down with a Leg Lariat and pinned him with the Buzzsaw Kick. He then slapped Nakamura over the head and stomped on him before leaving the ring.
The G-RULES match between El Lindaman and Ilusion had the following rules applied. There was a 7 minute time limit, 2 Count Pinfalls is enough to win, both wrestlers are allowed 2 rope breaks each before they get ignored and there is a 7 Count outside the ring. Ilusion stuck up his middle finger and shouted “Fuck you!” to Lindaman. When Lindaman blocked a Diving Cross Body he told Ilusion not to use dirty words. He ended up pinning Ilusion with the German Suplex.
Poor JD Lee had no idea what to expect from the other team. One of them was MICHIKO’s otaku alter ego Densha MICHIo who kept fidgeting with her glasses and used her backpack as a weapon. The other was Danshoku Dieno who picked Lee as his target. To-y promised to protect Lee from them but there wasn’t much he could do to stop the opposition. Much to Lee’s relief, the Hell Gate backfired on Dieno & MICHIo and Lee was able to hit the Shooting Star Press on MICHIo to win. But just when he thought he was safe, Dieno caught up to him and gave him the Lip Lock.
